Threads of Hope is a social project that aims to tackle vocational employment for disabled women through a multifaceted approach—spanning the setup of a dedicated learning space, workshops, fundraising, and an interview series.
We aim to raise funds to create a dedicated space where women with disabilities can refine their creativity and vocational skills. These funds would also support the space’s maintenance and daily operations. The space, once set up, would consist of all the materials needed for these women to begin their training: sewing needles, wicker, arts & crafts supplies, etc. This would be alongside the necessary tables, chairs, and surfaces, procured with their accessibility needs in mind.
In addition to facilitating workshops where these women learn from experts in the arts of sewing, basket weaving, jewelry making, etc., we also aim to create an interview series that highlights the personal and professional journeys of disabled women from marginalized Indian communities. Interviewees would include both trainers and trainees, focusing on their experiences in skill development, social barriers to employment, and their quest for financial independence.
